Hey, here we are a live Look to the Children Thursday.

We’re in August already. Believe it or not. It’s kind of crazy. Um, my name is Dr. Erik Kowalke. I have a practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I also run SKED, Inc, which is a software company, but, um, this show is all about kids and chiropractic. And so if you’re a chiropractor watching this, uh, our hope is that you get something out of this. You can take back to your office next week. Thanks so much for Dr. Stu Hoffman and car’s here for putting this show on and all of the support for the profession. Uh, we have a lot of fun doing this show. There’s another one, the third Thursday of every month, Dr. Monica Berger is fantastic. So if you get a chance to see that just great content for pediatric chiropractic all around every single month, twice a month, uh, coming to you live from ChiroSecure. So, uh, today I wanted to talk about confidence and clarity in adjusting kids. And if you stick on all the way to the end, I’ll tell you the story behind how I got this big, uh, rap scrape, scrape on my face. It’s it’s, uh, quite quite the story, but, um, the, the world is crazy

Right now. I was just informed right before this call. Apparently everything’s falling apart. So hopefully if you’re in a state, uh, where crazy things are

Happening, um, man, we’re just praying for you literally that, uh, doors open and things happen in a way that you can practice the amazing art of chiropractic, uh, unabated and, um, distracted. Uh, we know this is the key to help people and literally change the lives of kids for, um, a long, long, long time to come in there and tear future and affect generations through improved nervous system function and spinal health. We know this is the answer we know they’re going to be healthier with chiropractic care. We know adjusting them, makes them stronger. Um, and man, I just hope that information can get out there and that we can stay open and we can keep serving people like crazy. So if you’re, uh, in one of these crazy scenarios, um, we’re just praying for you guys that you get through it. Uh, but confidence and clarity adjusting kids.

Uh, so why am I even talking about this? Who the heck are we? Our office? We have 4,600 square feet. We have five docs on our team and 16 adjusting tables in our clinic. We adjust 500 plus kids every week, 1500 plus people. Every week we have multiple locations. Uh, another location is opening in four weeks, uh, which is super exciting. And we’re just on mission to serve families, serve families and kids. And, um, I love seeing kids. It’s the funnest thing I do every day, running multiple businesses. I have to do lots of stuff. Um, but adjusting kids is probably the funnest. Um, most funnest. Yeah. I said probably isn’t the best word to say, but it, it, kids love it. And they laugh when I say stuff like that. So it works to see kids, but confidence and clarity, um, adjusting kids is number one, the principle, no, the principle of chiropractic, you know, communicate to children like you do adults.

Uh, you don’t communicate to their parents about kids in chiropractic. Like you do adults. It’s just different. You have to be lighter. You have to know no that you know, that the power that made the body heals the body, that, that, that child was made to be healthy. That that child is healing. What’s so amazing about kids is they well so fast, their body wants to get better. They want to heal. You know, when you start working with adults, there’s a lot of other factors that play with, do they really want it? You get better. Do they really think that they’re going to get better? Uh, the stress of their work, the stress of their life, all of the things going on in their life, that’s out of your control that affects their own bodies, their own body’s ability to heal itself from the inside out how fast that’s going to heal itself, how long it’s going to take.

None of that is involved with kids to a degree. Um, they don’t have to worry about stress of job. Like they, they’re not thinking about, you know, stuff that stresses them. Now, they’re not even thinking about, am I going to get better? They’re probably not even thinking about their condition. They’re just thinking about like, what are they going to eat for lunch? And are they going to play today? And all they want to do is jump on the trampoline with their brother and sister, or they just don’t want to wet the bed anymore. Or they really don’t want to have a headache because they really want to go play baseball outside or whatever they can do. Mission is, um, it makes kids heal so much quicker and faster. And so I just get excited every time I get to see a new kid and you should have that same excitement, uh, just knowing, man, I can’t wait to adjust this.

Uh, they’re going to get better and they’re going to get better pretty darn quickly. Um, but can you keeping the principal and knowing like, man, this, this child body was made to be held. The parents don’t hear that if you have a kid that has a condition, whether it’s headed or bread-winning or asthma or allergies or colic or reflux or whatever, the condition constipation, trying to think of all this stuff I saw this week, scoliosis, uh, any of this stuff, they’re not hearing that if their child was designed to be healthy, they’re not hearing that there’s any hope. They’re not hearing any of that. It’s all fear and worst case scenario. Um, and it’s probably even worse nowadays than it was several years ago, uh, because of the society and where we’re at with medical care and everything. But there’s so much fear, um, that you can just see that walls come down and then open up like you probably the first person ever hope.

And it’s not promising them that you’re gonna to hear everything. So that’s number two, number one, and communicating confidence and clarity is no. The principal communicate the principle chiropractic. The second part of that is you’re not promising to cure anything, uh, over promising and under-delivering hurts the profession. It hurts your image. It hurts you who you are as a doctor, but you don’t need to do that. You don’t, you don’t need to promise them that you’re going to cure them. All I need to know is that there’s a, there’s a chance. There’s hope. You know, I was dealing with a mom with infertility the other day and I didn’t say chiropractic care is going to, for sure. Help you. Funny story there. When my wife and I were in practice together 10 years ago, she’s not a chiropractor where she was running the practice and the lady came in one day, she goes, your

Husband got me pregnant. She’s like, excuse me.

Uh she’s like, that came out wrong, but I couldn’t get pregnant. And I got pregnant because of the adjustments, but not because of my husband. Yeah. Um, so that’s just a funny story, but this conversation was around just giving her hope, like your body’s meant to heal. I see nerve interference in and around the areas of your spine and nervous system that directly affect your reproductive organs. It’s not good, but it’s good. Cause I know I can do something with that. Is that right? Can I make the difference? Is that going to be, what allows you to get pregnant? I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know how fast it’s going to happen, but I know this is something that that’s going to improve. Your body’s ability to conceive. It’s going to make you stronger. Um, it’s going to make your body stronger and so let’s get after it and let’s remeasure it and see how we’re changing the structure and function of the nervous system and spine.

And that’s exactly what we do with kids is I don’t know what’s going to happen or how fast it’s going to happen, but I know you have nerve interference and your child has never been an appearance or you have this spinal condition. And I know we can make improvements there. And I know we can see improve their body’s ability to heal from the inside out. And then we just kind of see what happens in, in how it functions. And parents are like, sweet. Yeah, let’s do it. And so if you have an objective way to measure pre and post, whether you’re using bilateral weight scales or posture analysis or using CLA technology SCPMG and thermal and uh, HRV or whatever system, x-ray, you need to objective analysis to measure pre and post and use that to communicate. Hey, I found something, you know, cause a lot of times parents just want to know, is there anything they’re like, I don’t know if my kid has nerve interference.

You know, I talked to his parents all the time. Your kid goes in for physical. It goes, they check their blood. They checked her, their heart. They check their lungs, they check all these different systems in their body, their height, their weight, their head size. When’s the last time they checked to see how their nervous system was functioning. Never. They don’t check to see how the nervous system is functioning yet. The nervous system controls every system in the body. So why wouldn’t we want to check the nervous system first? So by the end of these conversations on day one, even day, one, day two with parents, you really want them to be thinking the same thing. Like basically every time there’s something wrong, you should be thinking. I wonder if there’s nerve. I wonder how the nervous system is functioning. Cause I don’t care what it is, whether you’re sick or whether you have a virus or whether you have a eczema or some skin condition or the flu or whatever you want your body to be as strong as possible.

We all take vitamins, all this stuff to strengthen our body. But our nervous system is what controls the immune system and every other system in the body. So why wouldn’t we make sure the nervous system is functioning the best? The only reason you haven’t up to this point is number one, you didn’t even know that existed. You didn’t even know the concept of nervousness and function. And number two, even if you knew it, you didn’t know where to go. You didn’t know how to measure it. And you didn’t know anybody that could help you make it better. So we just saw both of those problems now, you know, and number two, we’re the place for you? We’re the place that’s going to measure the nerve interference and we’re going to find it. We’re going to correct it. And we’re going to give your child’s body that the ultimate ability to heal itself from the inside out.

So they can function the best that they can. And they can grow up healthy, happy kids because all of the adults that we see, usually that condition started 10, 20, 30 years ago. I can tell you multiple scenarios of people we saw this week that I was like, what happened? You know, they have a negative 15 degree curve in their neck and I’m like, you’re 28 years old. What happened? And they don’t. And that’s exactly how I respond to them. I look at their x-ray I’m like, what happened to you? And they’re like, I don’t know. I’m like, well, it hadn’t been when you were a kid who knows it could have been from the birth process yourself. And now you have headaches and insomnia and, and you know, all these crazy things that if we could have adjusted you, when you were a kid, you didn’t even know you had any of this stuff.

We could have corrected the nerve interference. You would have developed a healthier spine and you’d have been a 28 year old without all of these problems because we had to fix it before you have the problems in the first place. So most of the kids that we see in our office now are preventative because if we can find it and fix it before there’s a symptom, then you don’t turn into the person that is reactive and your kid has a problem. And then you come in and now we fix it. You can fix it. We can find it before the problem ever exists. And the symptoms arise. And that allows us to be proactive with your children and allow them to be healthy, happy, and grew up, uh, with the optimum potential. So communicating that to every single parent. So they really get it. But from your heart, cause you just know, you know, we have six children, 13 to two, they’ve never been on a prescription drug or an antibiotic or any of that crazy stuff.

They’ve gotten sick, man. We’ve gone through where, you know, we had, we had a child with a fever for 11 days. I think we had another one with a fever for 13 days. Um, a 13 day fever is a long time. I mean that talk about tests, Sr philosophy. Um, we’ve gone through crazy stuff, seizures or one daughter had seizures and which is nuts. So it’s not like chiropractic kids never have problems, but we know the principle of the body is going to do everything you can do to survive. And we know that chiropractic doesn’t cure everything, but it gives the body the best ability to heal itself from the inside out. I don’t care what’s going on. I want to make sure they’re free of nerve interference and I give them the best chance to heal from the inside out. And so communicating back gets you off the edge of my kid has better.

And how many adjustments before they’re bedwetting has gone? I don’t know. It might not go away at all, but there’s nerve interference and you’re going to want that kid to be free of nerve interference. If the bedwetting doesn’t go away at all anyway, cause it could be causing something else, right? If you have nerve interference, upper cervical spine and you have bedwetting, but the nervous system at the upper upper cervical spine is affecting their hormones and their, and it’s causing them to have like anxiety and ADHD symptoms. But you don’t even recognize that they’re not diagnosed with that. But by correcting that urban appearance, all of that goes away or prevents that from coming, but they still have the bedwetting. You would still want that to happen. So it’s just re redirecting the thought process of symptom-based, um, you know, reactive, here’s a problem. Here’s a solution to a problem that they didn’t even know was a problem which has nerve interference and spinal health.

And that’s what we’re correcting. And we know we can do that a hundred percent of the time. So we’re never over promising and under delivering, we’re always under promising if anything, and the symptoms going away is over-delivering because, um, that’s just their body healing and we didn’t make the symptoms go away. The body healed itself. Um, and the credit goes to that. So that’s so important because as soon as you start taking credit, you take credit for the wins and you take credit for the people that are getting better. And the kids that get better. And you’re saying like, I helped this, I got rid of the bedwetting and I did this. Then you gotta take credit for all the time. The symptoms don’t go away because then you failed those scenarios. So don’t take credit for that stuff. You didn’t actually make that go away.

You remove the nerve and inference and the body healed itself and the body corrected itself. And the healing happens in between the adjustments. The adjustments starts, the process, the process of healing happens in between the adjustments. So that’s why I don’t need to spend 20 minutes with every patient. You can adjust them. You know, how long is it taking you to analyze and adjust subluxations? It doesn’t take very long, you know, a minute or two. And so that starts the process. So all my job is to do is start the process and let their body do what it needs to do in between adjustments. And so that communication is important to you because a lot of times parents think the adjustment is the process and nothing happens in between. And so they want to be there for as long as possible and feel like you’re doing the most that you can possibly do.

When sometimes with kids less is more, you know, we use in an integrator, we adjust Hercules and one click. I can tell you so many testimonials, literally one click in the spine, which is in the right direction at the right time, at the right moment, addressing the right subluxation, unleashes an immense ability of their body to heal and stuff starts happening instantly. As soon as they get off the table and sometimes from one, one click in the right area. And so it, 30 seconds to find that and fix it. It took, you know, 20 years of, of research and 10 years of experience in school to know where to click and how to click and when to click it on the right spot. But the actual process to start, it didn’t take a lot. So hopefully you got some out of that too. Don’t promise security thing.

Number three, the experience you got to provide a legit up-to-date experience for families and kids. Uh, parents don’t want to bring their kids into sliding glass door, old, uh, plants, you know, that are full of dust in the corners, plastic plants, like stuff that the walls are all scraped up. You’ve got papers taped to the wall. You know, nothing’s been repainted in five or more years. It’s just totally outdated. Um, everything is paper, paper forms, paper, scheduling, paper, uh, everything that they’ve got to take home with them. And they got to remember to bring back or cards. They got to bring back. Like you just gotta think stuff’s changing fast, like technology. The rate that technology changes is incredible in the last five years. So if you’re doing the same thing you did five years ago, you’re you’re getting out of date. I can tell you that for sure. 20, 20 years ago, people didn’t think buy things on the internet. Let that sink in for a minute, two decades ago, somebody started an e-commerce business and everyone laughed at them and said, nobody’s going to buy stuff on the internet. That was really 20 years ago. You guys, I

Mean, now people don’t even buy things in stores. You wouldn’t even buy. So what’s going to happen.

No, that you, that now it was like, oh my gosh, you know, 20 years from now, you’re gonna look back and be like, I can’t believe we live like that. I can’t believe it did that. So you gotta be innovative. You gotta be moving the ball forward. Cause that’s what people are experiencing everywhere else. Everything in their life is easy now with technology. And it’s quick. So if you come in, you want to make chiropractic care part of their life. But if you make it hard, they’re not going to want to do it. Everything else in their life is easy.

Everything else in their life is easy. So you got to make them secure easy. So the first part of that is thinking about what do they have to do to come into your office? So this is all on experience. Every time they come into your office, they have to have an appointment. They have to know when the appointment is, they have to make sure that appointment works with their calendar and their schedule. So at some point they’re thinking about that. And then they have to plan their day off. They have to show up for that appointment. So they had to get directions to your office. If they need them. Most people are still pulling up Google directions to your office or apple maps, even if they know where you are, they’ve been coming for years because nobody even knows where to drive anymore. They just use Google apps.

So there’s there. They’re finding that they’re coming into your clinic, they’re arriving, they’re checking in, they’re checking in, they’re waiting in your waiting room. They’re getting adjusted. And then they have to schedule the next appointment and then they have to leave. So if you can go through that process and make it as easy as possible. So there’s an app that we use in our office called the skit app that allows them to see all their appointments, all their kids’ appointments. They can see those appointments sync with their normal calendar. I Cal outlook calendar, Google calendar, um, really easy makes it boom. Like the instant you start. We can build out a year of adjustments in your office, in our office. And within one click it’s sync to all of their calendars. We just integrated it into their life. Easy. We’re not printing out a paper form and saying, put this on your refrigerator and remember all these appointments for the next 12 months that doesn’t work anymore so they can see what times are busy in our clinic.

What times aren’t busy. And I can tell you people move their appointments around when it’s works best for them. And when it works best for us now. So our schedule is 300 a day, pretty much even every single day of the week, ever since we started using that software that syncs with our EHR software. And then they get text message reminders. You just kind of use the most up-to-date digital technology. If you want more information, or if you’re a doc that’s like once information lost, just reach out to me, send me a message Dr. Erik Kowalke on Facebook or something, and I can help you guys see what we do. scad.life is a software that does most of that for us. Um, and you can check that out there, but you got to provide an amazing experience, um, to every person that comes into your office and just implement one thing at a time through your clinic.

If it’s electronic paperwork, we use intake queue for our electronic paperwork. It’s awesome. We can send them a link automatically when they schedule online and they fill out the paperwork. We have it before they come in. So we know their name, we know their condition. We can figure out which team members the best to, to go over that day. One evaluation. Cause we know everything about them before they come into the office. It just allows us to provide a whole nother level of experience for kids and families in the office. So quick recap, three keys and confidence to, uh, and clarity adjusting kids is number one, know the principal, number two, don’t over promise and under deliver. Don’t promise. You’re going to cure anything. And number three, always be improving your experience. Always be working on ways to make the experience for the mom and the dad, easier for them to bring their kids into your office.

And you’ll see more kids and they’ll trust you more and you’ll see more compliance. Um, and people sticking to your recommendations, even if it’s not the exact days and times that they originally set up, people will come into your office. If you build enough value and you make it easy for them to bring their kids and families in your clinic. So hopefully you got something out of that and you can take back, uh, this week. And if anything, um, you’re in an awesome profession, chiropractic rocks. Uh, it’s not going away. Uh, it’s going to work tomorrow and it’s going to work the next day and it’s going to work 50 years from now. Uh, and we’re the solution that’s gonna save lives for a long, long time. So, um, I’m glad to be part of this and excited to continue to promote chiropractic care and subluxation based care, um, to all of you.

So we’ll be back, uh, in September, the first Thursday, September Dr. Monica Berger, you see her on the screen right there. Don’t miss the third of the month. She’s phenomenal full of information. So just take 20 minutes out of your day. Watch her show, share that with your friends. Um, and again, that’s Erik Kowalke with higher health chiropractic and skin and ChiroSecure. Thanks to them for hosting the show. We’ll see you guys back in September. Oh my scar on my head, uh, I was shooting a rifle, a long range rifle, but it wasn’t mine. And the scope was in a weird position and I was laying in a weird position and mosquitoes were biting me and I just was like, ah, I’ll probably be all right. And the skill hit me in the face and cut my head. So now my kids think I battled Voldemort and I won because they liked the Harry Potter series. So I’m just letting them think that I battled Voldemort in one. Have a great August. You guys to see back in September

Today’s pediatric show children was brought to you by ChiroSecure.
