No matter who you are – chiropractor, patient, or insurance provider it can be easy to get lost in our day to day roles. Going through the motions, and not recognizing the preciousness of of every day life. In many ways we could all use a little more inspiration – and, let me say it Gratitude! This is something that I was recently reminded of when I met Staff Sergeant, Shilo Harris. At a recent chiropractic event I had the rare privilege to meet and listen to him share his incredible story of pain, undeniable torment….. and his ultimate triumph – to become a phenomenal source of inspiration by sharing his story with the American People.

“On February 19, 2007, SSG Shilo Harris was patrolling an infamous southern Iraqi roadway when his Humvee was struck by an IED. Moments later, three members of his crew were dead and Shilo had sustained severe injuries that would alter the course of his life. For forty-eight days he lay trapped in a medically induced coma as his wife, unable to ease his suffering, had to come to grips with a man utterly changed.
Through more than sixty surgeries, countless hard decisions, and the unwavering devotion of the wife who would not leave his side, Shilo discovered that he was being reshaped–within and without–into the person he was meant to be all along. His inspiring story will move you and motivate you to live boldly in the face of fear and trust God to pull you through the toughest of times–no matter what.”

Well, After his catastrophic injuries in 2007, Shilo has become a cherished author, speaker, and most importantly, a champion for Chiropractic. He takes time to advocate for The Patriot Project, a project focused on making Chiropractic Care available to all Active Military members. Obviously, a cause that we can very much relate to here at ChiroSecure. We are proud to stand alongside him!
Shilo Harris’s story reminds me personally to “respond to life’s challenges” and find the silver lining each time I am challenged by work, relationships and life itself! It was an honour to meet this inspiring individual.
