Illinois Medical Licensing Board
The regulation of physicians in Illinois can be traced back to the first Medical Practice Act of Illinois enacted in 1877. Medical practitioners were placed under the jurisdiction of the Department upon its creation in 1917. The Board is composed of seven physicians appointed by the Governor, consisting of five licensed to practice medicine in all of its branches and possessing the degree of Doctor of Medicine, one licensed to practice medicine in all of its branches possessing the degree of Doctor of Osteopathy, and one possessing the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic.

Indiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners
Practitioners are required to have completed twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education acquired after July 1, 2008. Included within the twenty-four (24) hour requirement are eight (8) hours of approved courses in public health and/or risk management.  The Board of Chiropractic Examiners and the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency are prohibited from providing legal advice on issues in the statute and administrative rules.  For legal advice please consult an attorney.

Iowa Board of Chiropractic

Louisiana State Board of Chiropractic Examiners
The mission of the board is to protect the public health, safety and welfare through the regulation of individuals licensed under the authority of the Board.  Another primary responsibility of the Board is to provide for licensing and examination of doctors of chiropractic and ensuring that persons practicing chiropractic in Louisiana are properly educated and qualified. While the Legislature defines the profession as well as the scope of activity within the profession, the Board of Examiners provides the ongoing regulation of the profession.

Maine Board of Chiropractic Licensure  Chiropractic” means the art and science of identification and correction of subluxation and the accompanying physiological or mechanical abnormalities. The term subluxation, as utilized within the chiropractic health care system, means a structural or functional impairment of an intact articular unit. “Chiropractic” includes chiropractic acupuncture. Chiropractic recognizes the inherent recuperative capability of the human body as it relates to the spinal column, musculo-skeletal and nervous system.

Maryland Board of Chiropractic Examiners
The Board consists of 6 chiropractors, 3 licensed massage therapists, and 2 consumer members.  Members are selected by the Governor for 4 year initial terms.  Members may serve a total of two consecutive terms. Nominees come from the Maryland Chiropractic and Massage Associations and from citizens who desire to sit on a board as a consumer member.

Massachusetts Board of Registration of Chiropractors
The Board of Registration of Chiropractors regulates the practice of chiropractic in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Board works to maintain high standards of practice and to protect the health and welfare of the public by establishing qualification requirements for licensure, reviewing applicant credentials, and administering licensing examinations. Pennsylvania State Board of Chiropractic
The State Board of Chiropractic provides for and regulates the licensure of chiropractors in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Among its other functions, the Board provides for examinations for chiropractic license applicants and certifies qualified licensees to use adjunctive procedures.

Rhode Island Board of Examiners in Chiropractic
The Board acts in an advisory capacity to the Department and to the Director of Health in all matters pertaining to the practice of the profession.  The Board is responsible for the review and approval of applications for initial licensure, the formulation and promulgation of Rules and Regulations pertaining to the practice of the profession and for the overall exercise of disciplinary authority over all persons regulated under the statute. Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners
The mission of the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners is to execute the statutory authority of the Texas Chiropractic Act (Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 201) and to promote, preserve, and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Texas by licensing skilled professionals and enforcing standards of practice.

Utah Chiropractic Physicians Licensing Board
The Chiropractic Physician Licensing Board consisting of four chiropractic physicians and one member from the general public.   The board shall be appointed and serve in accordance with Section 58-1-201.   The duties and responsibilities of the board are in accordance with Sections 58-1-202 and 58-1-203. In addition, the board shall designate one of its members on a permanent or rotating basis to assist the division in reviewing complaints concerning the unlawful or unprofessional conduct of a licensee; and advise the division in its investigation of these complaints.

Vermont Board of Chiropractic

Washington Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission
The mandate of the Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission (CQAC) is to promote the delivery of quality healthcare to the residents of the state by regulating the competency and quality of professional healthcare providers under its jurisdiction. CQAC accomplishes this mandate through a variety of activities working with the Department of Health, Health Professions Quality Assurance.

West Virginia Board of Chiropractic Examiners
The West Virginia Board of Chiropractic is responsible for licensing individuals qualified to practice chiropractic in the State of West Virginia. Wisconsin Chiropractic Examining Board
Pursuant to Wisconsin Administrative Code Chir 4.03, the practice of chiropractic includes the application of chiropractic science in the adjustment of the spinal column, skeletal articulations and adjacent tissue, which also includes the use of procedures and instruments preparatory and complementary to treatment of the spinal column, skeletal articulations and adjacent tissue. Accordingly, extremity manipulations may be done, either as preparatory or complementary to the treatment of the spinal column, or separately.
